On November 16 during the week of Veteran’s Day, Career Staffing Services will be holding an important event designed to provide veterans, military spouses, and newly enlisted service members with career development and career transition support.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, our nation’s veterans—including reservists and Guardsmen—are struggling with an 8.3 percent national unemployment rate, nearly a full point above the rate for non-military personnel. Among those who have served since 9/11, the rate has risen to astonishing highs, reaching and even exceeding 29 percent.
When our veterans struggle, our country struggles, and when our veterans overcome obstacles to employment and find fulfilling work, all of us benefit, from employers to their clients to society as a whole.
Here are Career Staffing Services, we hope to honor current and former service members by partnering with Sgt Green and the ESGR program in the common goal of improving employment opportunities for transitioning veterans. We also support local and national employers and hope to provide them with access to the excellent pool of talent our veterans represent.
On Friday, November 16 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, we’ll open our local office to veterans interested in making contact with employers, accessing career development resources, and searching for civilian job training opportunities. We’ll provide military skills translators to help veterans talk about their military experience with civilian employers, and we’ll also have staff on hand for veterans interested in applying for temporary work while they search for permanent employment. In addition to veterans, we welcome other military personnel including newly enlisted members waiting to ship to basic training, those in the reserves who may be between jobs, and the spouses of military and ex-military members.
